What are white spot lesions?
White spot lesions are early signs of enamel demineralisation — localised areas where the tooth surface has lost essential minerals and become more porous than the surrounding healthy enamel. They commonly appear as post-orthodontic marks after fixed braces, as the earliest detectable stage of dental decay, or from developmental factors such as fluorosis or enamel hypoplasia. As well as compromising the structural integrity of the tooth, white spots create visible contrast against natural enamel and can undermine confidence in your smile.
As your dentist in St Albans, we assess white spots carefully to confirm they are suitable for ICON treatment before proceeding.
